IDENTITY Signs Director Amit Gupta for U.S. Representation
PR Newswire
NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2026
NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — IDENTITY has signed director Amit Gupta for U.S. representation, welcoming a filmmaker known for cinematic imagery, authentic performance and an ability to move seamlessly between intimate human storytelling and ambitious, large-scale production.
Gupta’s work spans lifestyle, automotive, documentary, performance and stunt-driven filmmaking, but his approach remains rooted in the same principle: finding the most honest version of a story and elevating it through a distinctive visual lens. Whether capturing an unscripted human moment or orchestrating a technically complex automotive sequence, Gupta brings a naturalism to his work without sacrificing scale, craft or beauty.
“The thread running through all of my work is authenticity,” says Gupta. “Whether it’s in the culture, the performance, the camera or the light, I want everything to feel honest and natural, but still visually elevated and cinematic.”
That sensibility has taken Gupta around the world, directing campaigns across cultures, landscapes and categories. Career highlights include a stunt-heavy motorcycle campaign in Malaysia; a TD Bank project shot in Whitehorse, Yukon, centered on a Singaporean immigrant making an impact in her new community; and a GO Transit campaign filmed aboard working trains throughout Toronto, capturing intimate stories inspired by the people who ride them every day.
His visual influences reach well beyond contemporary filmmaking. Gupta frequently looks to classical painting, particularly Baroque art and Tenebrism, for its sculpted light, deep shadows and dramatic composition. At the same time, he has become an early adopter of emerging AI filmmaking tools, exploring how new technology can expand the possibilities of traditional production.
“For me, it always starts with human performance, emotion and story,” Gupta says. “The technology is another filmmaking tool. It allows us to take those elements somewhere extraordinary and create images and worlds that previously existed only in our heads.”
Joining IDENTITY marks an opportunity for Gupta to build upon his international body of work while bringing that visual sensibility and breadth of experience to a growing slate of U.S. brands and agencies.
“I’ve been a fan of IDENTITY since I first started shooting commercials,” says Gupta. “I’ve also known Molly for years, so when she joined the company, everything clicked. It felt like the right moment to finally come together and build the next chapter.”
For IDENTITY Executive Producer Molly Mitchell, the feeling is mutual.
“This one has been years in the making,” says Mitchell. “Amit and I have known each other and crossed paths in this industry for a long time, so finally getting the chance to join forces feels incredibly exciting. I’ve always admired the range of his work, but more importantly, the point of view he brings to it. He can move effortlessly between big, beautifully cinematic filmmaking and really intimate, human storytelling, and it all still feels distinctly Amit. I couldn’t be happier that the timing finally aligned and that we get to build this next chapter together at IDENTITY.”
