Following a detailed aircraft inspection, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded Bye with a Special Airworthiness Certificate for eFlyer 2. The inspection occurred at the Centennial Airport near Denver, where Bye is completing flight preparations. The FAA meticulously reviewed eFlyer 2’s airframe, electric propulsion system, instruments, and other functional systems to confirm the aircraft’s safety for operation.

The Bye team completed the structural build of the all-electric eFlyer 2 in July, following several months of rigorous structural testing and propulsion system validation using a truck mounted test rig called “The Beast.” Since then, engineers and technicians have been conducting final aircraft systems integration, further electrical system validation, and operational ground testing before beginning the flight test program.
Receipt of the Special Airworthiness Certificate represents a significant step toward first flight, confirming the aircraft is airworthy and authorized to begin flight testing. With months of ground testing complete, Bye Aerospace is now focused on final aircraft inspections, operational readiness activities, and preparing to launch a phased flight test program that will progressively expand the aircraft’s operating envelope.
Bye’s orderbook for the 2-seat eFlyer 2 and 4-seat eFlyer 4 stands at over 1,000 aircraft. Orders for the eFlyer aircraft come from premier flight training schools like Spartan College of Aeronautics & Technology, Skyborne Academy, Flex Air Flight School, and KLM Academy (NL).
